Many home insurance policies do not include coverage for roof damage. The only way to know if your roof is covered is to ask your homeowner’s insurance representative and review your policy. Evaluate the fine print on your home’s policy and check for any exclusions.

We are more than happy to work around whatever schedule you would like as to cause as little disruption to your day-to-day work as possible. Working on a commercial roof can sometimes be a pretty noisy job, but we do everything we can to cause as little disturbances as possible and always keep our clients’ best interest in mind. If you would rather we come in and do the job on off-hours we would be more than happy to accommodate you.

In 2011, more than 92 percent of the nation’s 95,840 roofers worked for foundation, structure and building exterior contractors to make an average $18.44 per hour, or $38,350 per year. However, the highest salaries were in wholesalers of lumber and other construction materials, with average pay at $28.11 per hour, or $58,470 per year. The job suffers from one of the highest rates of injury and illness of any occupation, according to the BLS. Roofers may fall or get burned by hot roofing products. However, practicing correct procedures and wearing protective equipment such as harnesses can minimize problems.

Leaks or temperature inconsistencies in your home could mean your roofing system isn’t working properly. If you’re seeing signs of wear and tear on shingles, noticing drips or peeling paint in your rooms or seeing water spots on the ceiling, it’s time to think about a roof replacement. A free in-home consultation from a licensed and insured roofer can determine if your roof is in need of a replacement.

Roofers install and repair roofs on homes and businesses using asphalt, wood and metal. Though they most commonly manage low-slope, steep-slope and regular flat or “built-up” structures, a few handle the new “green” roofs that place vegetation and soil on top of waterproof layers. Roofer salaries vary according to employer and location.

When condensation forms, the most common spot of problem is the uppermost part of the roof. It would be worth looking in there and having area first inspected to avoid wasting time and energy on finding the problem on unlikely places.

Apart from job estimating, most of the work performed by roofers is field based. Most roofing jobs demand a lot of physical labor, and, depending on the geographic location, the ability to work in extreme conditions is often required. Roofers can work privately as freelancers, start their own roofing business, or work full time or on a contractual basis for a construction company.

Modified Bitumen (MB) roofing is an asphalt-based, close cousin of the Built-up-Roof (BUR) designed for buildings with low-slope or “flat” roof structures. Engineered modified bitumen roofing membranes originated in Europe in the mid 1960’s and have been used successfully in the United States and Canada since approximately 1975.
